İstanbul is a great city to explore with children. With multiple museums ranging from a toy museum to a panoramic museum there is something for children of all ages. On our full day tour, kids will have fun discovering antique toys, a historical cistern, and a submarine. During the tour we visit three museums and a cistern, the stops will be as follows:
Koç Museum which has an extensive collection of industrial and transportation objects, ranging from historical steam cars, fire engines, planes to a gramophone and a 14th century globe. Children will enjoy climbing up an old air plane and try real-life scientific experiments. Guided tours of a submarine and a tour on a nostalgic railway along the Golden Horn are also available.
The Toy Museum, located in a historical mansion, has a collection of over 4000 toys dating from 1700s. Workshops like painting wooden dolls are also held at the museum. The museum is fun to visit for visitors of all ages as one can come across toys he/she played with decades ago.
On the historical side, the Basilica Cistern is quiet fun to explore with children. Constructed in the 6th century, the cistern is exciting for kids with its moody atmosphere, the 332 columns and dripping waters.
Panorama 1453 is a panoramic museum with a painted half dome which depicts the battlefield of İstanbul’s conquest. The visitors stay on a platform where 3D objects stand between the platform and the painting, giving the feeling of literally being in the field.
