Food Tour in Kadıköy, İstanbul
Turkish cuisine is very rich due to the complex past of the country. İstanbul is home to people all over Türkiye who have migrated here and brought their cuisines with them. In Istanbul, you can find Black Sea cuisine, Aegean cuisine, Southeastern cuisine and Balkan cousin within walking distance from each other.
You will start your tour by taking a ferry to the busy hub of Kadıköy on the Asian side and start your walking tour to explore the different tastes from Türkiye.
You will start with wet meatballs in a casual place, continue with mussels (fried or filled mussels) and stop for a sit down lunch at one of the most famous restaurants in the city, Çiya Sofrası.
Çiya Sofrası has regional dishes from different parts of Türkiye, their menu changes everyday though there are some permanent dishes and everything they make is very delicious. The owner is also a publisher on Turkish food culture.
After your lunch at Çiya Sofrası, you will stop in a traditional coffee house for Turkish coffee.
Then if you have a sweet tooth, you will try the traditional confectionary from Türkiye.
During the tour, you will walk through the local fish and vegetable market, see traditional pickle stores, cheese and charcuterie stores as well.
This tour ends in another lovely neighborhood which is quieter yet trendy with cool coffee shops and restaurants.
Moda is the bohemian chic neighborhood of the Asian side. You can either go for a fancy cocktail, a simple beer or a tea here depending on your mood!
