Located near the Dardanelles in northwestern Turkey, Troy is one of the most legendary archaeological sites in the world, made famous by Homer’s Iliad.

Excavations have revealed nine layers of settlement, dating from the Early Bronze Age to the Roman period.

The remains include city walls, gates, and foundations that correspond to different eras, including the layer believed to be Homeric Troy.

Today, visitors can also see a symbolic wooden Trojan Horse near the entrance—an homage to the famous trick that led to the fall of the city.

With its blend of myth and history, Troy offers a rare chance to walk through the echoes of epic tales that shaped Western literature.
