Klazomenai Ancient City
Located on the shores of modern-day Urla near Izmir, Klazomenai was one of the twelve Ionian cities of antiquity.
Renowned in the ancient world for its olive oil production, it is considered the birthplace of large-scale olive oil workshops, with restored presses still visible today. The city also played an important role in philosophy and culture, being home to the pre-Socratic thinker Anaxagoras.
Walking through its archaeological remains, visitors discover traces of city walls, necropolises, and harbor structures that speak of a prosperous past shaped by trade and innovation.
Today, Klazomenai invites travelers to explore its legacy of knowledge, commerce, and craftsmanship along the serene Aegean coast.
