Hippodrome
Hippodrome is an open-air museum with various monuments from different periods. Originally the Hippodrome was the stadium where the Roman chariot races took place.
It was also the center of civil life in the city, where many political demonstrations took place. Built initially in the beginning of 3rd century AD by Roman Emperor Septimus Severus, was rebuilt during the reign of Constantine the Great in the 4th century.
Today, only three monuments remain from the Roman era:
3- Roman Obelisk
4- German Fountain ( early 20th century)
