Filming On A Lovely Spring Day

Taken at a local, traditional ‘meyhane’ in Samatya. “Ahmet Baba’nın Yeri” (Father Ahmet’s Place) this picture is an example of a dying breed of cosy, hole in the wall type of local eateries where one person basically prepares everything right there in front of you and nothing put on the table is made the day before.

It’s not all about food either, it’s about the conversation. You feel like interviewing a local about the history of the neighborhood, it’s almost like an interesting oral history lesson. 

 You learn about how and who lives there, you learn about things you cannot find in any guide book, newspaper or history book.

All in one place accompanied by the local drink ‘rakı’.

What more would one want?
