Marbling Workshop
How about trying something new on one of your days in İstanbul? Have you ever heard of ‘paper marbling’?
It’s an old art form whose roots go back to the 15th century to Central Asia. Since the 16th century this art form has been used here in Türkiye.
Today unfortunately it’s not as popular as it once used to be although it is one of the things Turks are known for.
- The workshop takes place in a historical setting as well, a 16th century building complex which used to be a school. It has a beautiful, serene courtyard and small classrooms all around the courtyard which today each teach a different Turkish art.
- It is a foundation that was started to protect dying Turkish crafts. In 1-1.5 hours, you learn how to do marbling, watch the colors dance on the water and create your own little piece of art.
